Offshore administrative, fiduciary and legal firm, Appleby is to make its first move into the Isle of Man with its merger with Dickinson Cruikshank, which is currently the largest law firm on the island.
The merger is expected to be completed on 1 October 2009 and will result in Appleby, which will keep its name on the Isle of Man, operating in more jurisdictions than any other law firm.
Appleby operates in nine offices around the world in jurisdictions including, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the
British Virgin Islands, London, Zurich, Mauritius,
Hong Kong and Jersey.
Peter Bubenzer, Appleby's global group managing partner, says the merger will benefit the firm, “our entry into the Manx market further builds our strength and depth across multiple jurisdictions - providing greater resources and greater choice to our clients.”
He went on to talk about the merits of having offices in different jurisdictions and the benefits this can have on business. He said, “the merger will provide both firms' corporate, institutional and private clients with greater resources across the locations and time zones in which they do business and a broader choice of structures and jurisdictions, unmatched by any other offshore firm.”
