VAT - Value Added Tax Registration

Fletcher Kennedy are company incorporation specialists, and we are often asked to supply clients with ready made companies which are registered for VAT - Value Added Tax.

When applying for VAT registration the applicant must answer specific and detailed questions about the company, the company's owners and directors, the products or service provided, and the actual and projected turnover within and outside of the United Kingdom.

With a ready made company it is impossible to honestly answer these questions. We believe that it would be extremely unwise to register a ready made company for VAT, because the only way that registration is possible would be by dishonestly answering questions on the VAT application form. It would become clear to the VAT office as soon as the company commences trading that the details on the application were inaccurate and it is most likely that registration would be cancelled, and the directors could possibly be prosecuted.

For these reasons we do not pre-register companies for vat and recommend that clients should not purchase a company which has been pre-registered for VAT.
